Watermelon and Magnolia collaboration by Peg Hambright & Julie Belcher - Works in Progress
Artist reception and opening will be from 5-9pm on Friday November 3 or visit during Pioneer House regular business hours during November & December.
Cara Pfennigwerth is a mixed media artist from Knoxville that loves to draw, relief block print, crochet, garden, and try just about anything hands-on. She draws most of her inspiration from the flora and fauna of East Tennessee and creates to preserve and appreciate the beauty of our local wildlife.
Amanda Humphreys is a Knoxville native who occupies her time teaching pottery classes & making functional, whimsical pottery. Her work is inspired by her love of textures & colors from old, historic buildings, vintage maps, the 80's & 90's in general, as well as classic country music.
Laura Baisden runs a custom letterpress shop called Camp Nevernice in the same studio as Pioneer House. In addition to making custom posters and invitations for clients, she hand carves linoleum illustrations and hopes to one day write and illustrate a children's book.
Peg Hambright is a former graphic designer and illustrator who has neglected her creative side for the last 25 years while nurturing her little bakery, Magpies. In an attempt to find balance in her life, she's found herself transitioning from food into art by making art that is food. It's a start. ;)
Julie Belcher is showing a new body of work incorporating her primary medium of letterpress printmaking with hand and machine paper sewing, laser cut prints, encaustic painting collaboration and plain ole experimentation. She started Yee-Haw Industrial Letterpress in her Mom's backyard and helped start a nationwide letterpress revival from downtown Knoxville.
