JULIE BELCHER & SEAN STARWARS - Reception for these 2 artists - Live In Person in New Orleans for 1 night only. Yes it’s Jazz Fest Day 1 - so come after your fun music filled day for a fun art filled evening, or come see the art anytime - show is up until June 8, 2019.
Come meet the artists of our current show at Anchor & Arrow Dry Goods. Outlaw printmaker, Sean Starwars, has been making woodcuts for over 25 years, currently from his studio in Laurel, Mississippi. His bold plywood carvings of pop culture, music and of course Starwars icons are hand printed onto brightly colored papers and on display at this new Bywater shop. Julie Belcher shares a letterpress printmaking background and is showing some new mixed media paintings which layer her linocut prints with encaustic beeswax, tissue paper drawings and incised lines on wood. Both artists have a great collaborative history in printmaking & showing work in Louisiana - Sean as a former LSU student and New Orleans resident and Julie as a current resident and long time Contemporary Crafts artist at Jazz Fest. She is one of the partners at Anchor & Arrow which specializes in premiere vintage clothing with an art space for unique events, it opened in December, 2018. Come visit the shop and these artists and see their work which will be on view and for sale thru June 8. Meet and greet is Thursday, April 25, 6-9pm
