Hello Friends & Neighbors,

Thanks for looking at my PIONEER-HOUSE store. I have a fabulous letterpress printmaking & design studio in downtown KNOXVILLE, TENNESSEE. My cottage industry utilizes salvaged equipment, recycled papers and re-purposed inks in an historic 19th century building. Contemporary work with traditional materials... I have over 15 years of experience with letterpress and 25+ years as a graphic designer.

I usually only post 1 or 2 of each item - "1 in stock" only means 1 in the etsy store at a time - if you have a question about getting more than number listed please convo me - also if you are interested in an item that is listed as "sold out" please ask me, I may have another. I currently will be selling my old YeeHaw inventory that many of you have been asking for since I had to close the store in May, 2012. Get it while it lasts.

As with all handmade work - items are different from piece to piece. My prints are hand pulled from wood blocks of image & type with hand mixed inks. Much of my typography is well over 100 years old, dinged up and scratched. The characteristics of the materials create texture, wood grain & a distressed look when printed. I subscribe to the "kiss" method of hand printing not the "bite" method. Inks kiss the paper - thus the impression is not always a super deep one - this is the correct method in order to preserve the type so it can be used for another century or 2. The process sometimes creates ghost images on the back of the paper. These are not defects, the ink has not smeared, transferred or melted in transit. I use a variety of papers - much of it is 100% post consumer recycled and I also like paper from a family run paper company that has run on green power for over a century.

Everyone's computer shows digital colors differently... so if your print varies a bit from the photo there could be several reasons for that. If you have any questions please ask me & THANKS A LOT.

Please do not steal art, that ain't nice. It's hard work to come up with original ideas but you can do it.
