In this fiddle workshop we’ll learn a few tunes and the techniques to play them that will help develop a good old-time sound. We’ll also focus on listening to recorded sources and picking out details that will help you learn better from them. To get the most out of the workshop, you should already be comfortable playing some old-time tunes if not with leading jams. We’ll be learning exclusively by ear, so feel free to bring a recording device (audio or video).
Scott Prouty has an eclectic repertoire rooted in old mountain styles of fiddle playing, which include dance music as well as beautiful solo tunes. His music has been shaped by time spent with older traditional players and contemporary musicians, as well as by rare field recordings. As a writer and archivist, he has worked to document traditional music and has taught and performed at the Berkeley Old-Time Music Convention, Cowan Creek Mountain Music School, and the Augusta Heritage Center.
If you have any questions or to sign up please contact Scott, firstname.lastname@example.org
COST IS $35 payable at the workshop.
