Marge Riley Black Cowgirl Shirt
Marge Riley Black Cowgirl Shirt
Cowgirl Deco! all the way. This vintage satin ladies shirt has Marge Riley's Palm Springs label. (She had shops in Los Angeles & Palm Springs.) I'd estimate this shirt is from the 1940s. Marge Riley was a cowgirl & she made ranch inspired couture for the gals and was featured in a 1940s issue in Life Magazine about American Cowgirls of the 1940s.
The bodice fabric is a thick satin shiny black material with silver piping, amazing silver leather applique and white leather fringe. The front fastens with white round pearly snaps, 5 on the cuffs - 2 of which are decorative and there are modest shoulder pads. The hem is finished & ends are pinked. Incredible condition with no visible stains or tears. This is a true treasure straight out of my own collection.
Please go by these measurements for size but it is most likely a small - medium.

shoulder to shoulder 16"
collar to shirttail hem 25"

sleeve from shoulder to cuff 20.5"

Looks incredible paired with one of my black denim & silver leather Thunderbird skirts, mini or A-line, sold separately, see last photograph.
